Arab Weather - As we enter the fall season, many people, especially autumn and winter enthusiasts, await the arrival of low-pressure systems that bring clouds and rain to enjoy the winter atmosphere, with clouds filling the sky, rain, and snow falling.
Many of us love the sight of clouds, their formations, and their white and sometimes gray color, but few know the scientific reason why clouds sometimes appear white or gray.
The reason clouds are mostly white is because the small water droplets or ice crystals that make up clouds scatter sunlight of all colors with almost equal efficiency (this phenomenon is called Mie scattering).
Since sunlight consists of the seven colors of the spectrum (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet), when these colors are scattered together equally, they produce the white color of clouds.
But sometimes we see the clouds as gray or dark. This happens when the clouds are very thick or dense, making it difficult for the sun's rays to penetrate them and less light reaches us.
