Arab Weather - The government in Mozambique reported that 22 people died and 12 others were injured after heavy rains and strong winds fell in several parts of the country at the beginning of October 2020

As government spokesman and Deputy Minister of Justice, Velimau Suaz, said that 16,657 people from 3,695 families were affected by the floods in 5 provinces, nearly 2,000 homes were damaged and 922 were completely destroyed, and schools and health centers were also damaged .

According to the minister, the floods also affected areas in Doaa district in Tete province due to the flooding of the Zambezi River .

At least 13 people were killed in flash floods in the Rapal region of Nampula province after the Melluli River broke its banks on 12 October.
