المجرة مـ 51 تظهر في أسفل الصورة بينما ترطم بها مجرة أصغر حجماً ظاهرة في أعلى الصورة، في مشهد يُماثل ما يتوقع حدوثه بين مجرتنا و مجرة أندروميدا بعد 4 مليارات سنة.
