وتجدر الإشارة بأن وادي رم هو جزء من منطقة حسمى. وهذه المنطقة تتميز بوجود جبال صخرية عالية متناثرة في سهل رملي واسع. وحسمى هو الاسم الشائع عند سكان البادية لكل المنطقة وتمتد منطقة حسمى بشكل مستطيل من جنوب مرتفعات الشراة ورأس النقب في الأردن إلى جنوب غرب تبوك في السعودية.

 

وجبال هذه المنطقة هي جبال من الصخر الرملي التي اخذت شكلها المميز بسبب العوامل الطبيعية من حت وتعرية في العصور القديمة.
