A 100-meter-wide crater appears at `Earth's End` in Russia

The researchers will begin the investigation with this crater, which has a diameter of 100 meters. It was photographed from the air in “Yamal”, which means in the local Nenets dialect “the end of the earth.” .

The state television station stated that a mission comprising two researchers from the Center for the Study of the Polar Region will go today, Thursday, to collect soil and water samples from the same site.

Yamal is considered one of the richest areas in Russia with natural gas, and the local population of reindeer herders live there. The crater was found near the "Bovannetsky" gas field, which led to speculation that it may have resulted from an underground explosion.
