Arab Weather - Computer simulation maps in Arab Weather indicate the movement of a deep low-pressure system accompanied by a very cold air mass from the central Mediterranean towards its east, where it is expected to be centered, God willing, south of Turkish lands on Friday.
As this low-pressure system moves eastward and crosses the eastern Mediterranean, including Cyprus and Turkey, it is expected – due to the significant drop in atmospheric pressure at its center – to cause widespread weather consequences affecting many Arab countries, including strong winds, sea disturbances, dust storms, and sharp temperature fluctuations.
In detail, God willing, Syria and Lebanon are expected to be directly affected by this low-pressure system, with heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and hail showers expected in many areas, especially the western regions of Syria and large parts of Lebanon. Rainfall amounts may exceed 100 mm in some areas, due to the proximity of these countries to the center of the low-pressure system. Snowfall is also expected on the high mountain peaks in Lebanon as a result of the significant drop in temperatures in the upper atmosphere.
In Jordan and Palestine, the effects of this low-pressure system are indirect, but they are evident in the atmosphere. On Friday, warmer than usual air currents are expected to rush in, leading to a noticeable rise in temperatures compared to their general averages, coinciding with active winds that stir up dust waves, which may be dense in some areas, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.
This will be followed on Friday/Saturday night by a sharp and rapid drop in temperatures, with the possibility of scattered showers of muddy rain in parts of Jordan and Palestine.
God willing, the effects of this low-pressure system will extend to Egypt, where strong to occasionally very strong winds are expected on Friday, causing dense dust storms and possibly sandstorms in many areas, including the capital, Cairo. Accordingly, the weather on Friday will turn stormy and noticeably dusty, with a sharp decrease in horizontal visibility, coinciding with unstable weather conditions that include a chance of scattered showers, especially in the northern coastal areas.
God willing, this low-pressure system is expected to cause stormy winds on the Mediterranean Sea, especially in its central areas, leading to significant disruption to maritime navigation and a sharp rise in waves that may reach about 6 meters in some areas.
The waves also become noticeably turbulent on the coasts of the Levant, Egypt and Libya during the passage of the low-pressure system through the region's atmosphere, which may negatively affect sailing operations and maritime activities.
Despite the depth of this low-pressure system and the intensity of its activity at its center, the main rainfall effects remain geographically limited, mainly concentrated on Syria, Lebanon, Turkey and Cyprus, while most countries in the eastern Mediterranean basin remain under indirect rainfall effects of this low-pressure system.
And God knows best.
