A Spanish farm that provides electricity to about 500,000 people through solar energy

ArabiaWeather.com- The Andasol farm, which is located near the Spanish city of Granada, provides electricity to about 500 thousand people with a capacity of 150 megawatts, as it produces solar energy through 620 thousand curved mirrors.

According to a report published by the British "Daily Mail" newspaper, the sun's rays are reflected from the mirrors to heat synthetic crude oil in a tube to a level of 400 degrees Celsius, and energy is generated that runs the turbines, which in turn generate electricity.

A quantity of energy also goes to a thermal reservoir containing thousands of tons of molten salt - mixed with potassium nitrate and sodium nitrate - through which the turbines can be turned on after sunset or when the weather is overcast, for about seven and a half hours.

The mirrors alone cover an area equivalent to about 210 football fields, and follow the sun's rays from the beginning of sunrise as closely as possible.
