Arab regions witnessing a lunar eclipse tonight

The lunar eclipse will be visible in varying proportions in southern and western Europe - southern and western Asia - Africa - North America - South America - the Pacific Ocean - the Atlantic Ocean - Antarctica - the Indian Ocean.

According to a statement issued by the International Astronomy Center, the director of the center, Muhammad Odeh, said: “(The eclipse) is not seen from the east of the Arab world as the moon sets before the beginning of the observed eclipse, and for the Arab countries, its beginning is seen from East Africa, such as Egypt and Sudan, and it is completely watched from West Africa, Especially in Algeria and Morocco.

He added: "The eclipse is not seen from the Gulf countries, Yemen, Iraq and the Levant, with the possibility of observing a slight change in the brightness of the moon from western Saudi Arabia and western Levant, minutes before the moon sets, and then the moon will be close to the western horizon, and monitoring is required from a place where its western horizon is exposed. Exactly so that the moon does not disappear behind the heights in the west.

The time of the total lunar eclipse

Regarding the timing of the eclipse, the International Astronomy Center stated that it will be as follows:

• The beginning of the moon's entry into the semi-shadow region: 01:32 GMT.
• The beginning of the observation of a change in the brightness of the moon: about 02:20 GMT.
• The beginning of the partial eclipse phase: 02:28 GMT.
• The beginning of the total eclipse phase: 03:29 GMT.
• Peak: 04:12 GMT.
• The end of the total eclipse phase: at 04:54 GMT.
• Partial end: 05:56 GMT.
• The end of the semi-shadow: 06:51 GMT.
• Moonset time: Approximately at sunrise.

That is, the total lunar eclipse for this year will take in all its phases more than 5 hours.
