According to a report published by the British newspaper “Daily Mail” , British hospitals have witnessed the imposition of a ban on the entry of visitors as a result of the increasing cases of infection with the “Covid-19” virus , as the spread of the “new explosive strain” raises fears of a new wave of the epidemic. This virus, called "Norovirus" , is known by the British Medical Service (NHS) as "a winter vomiting sickness" , and indicates that in most cases it causes infections in the stomach and intestines.
According to the Daily Mail , those already infected with this virus occupy about 498 beds in UK hospitals , an increase of 19% during the last seven days and 15% compared to last year, and according to data from the National Health Service in England, and due to the spread of the disease, hospitals began to fill... Visitor sections are closed in an attempt to contain the spread of the virus.
Although most infected people recover within a few days, the increase in infection cases puts additional pressure on hospitals that are already facing significant challenges due to high levels of other seasonal diseases. These developments come at a time when concern is accelerating about the possibility of new strains of the virus causing infection. Corona is in an additional wave of infections, posing new challenges for the NHS.
Chester Hospital decided to take strict measures to confront the rise in norovirus cases, as Assistant CEO, Sue Pemberton, confirmed that the hospital had limited the number of visitors due to the large increase in cases, and indicated that the virus was spreading among patients and employees, and warned against Risk of transmission.
Pemberton explained that due to the rise in cases of Norovirus infection, at least one ward in the hospital was closed, and although the virus is active among a small but increasing number of patients, precautionary measures are being taken to prevent the spread of infection and protect patients and staff.
Emphasizing the importance of restricting visits, Pemberton said:
“It is clear that we need to contain and control cases in our hospitals to prevent their spread, so we have taken the difficult but necessary decision to temporarily halt visiting our hospital and all acutely ill adult inpatient wards.”
She continued, saying:
“Restricting visits is the right choice to ensure the protection of all people,” stressing the importance of containing and controlling infections in hospitals.
She added:
“Doctors indicate that the symptoms of the virus include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, and in some cases fever, headache, and pain in the arms and legs. Although the condition of most infected people improves within two to three days, caution and precautionary measures are necessary to prevent the spread of the virus.”
Data from the National Health Service in Britain shows a significant increase of 53 percent in the number of patients with influenza being transferred to hospitals, highlighting the need to take immediate action to limit the spread of the virus.
