Arab Weather - After several regions in central and southern Europe witnessed a record-breaking heat wave in recent weeks, temperatures exceeded averages by more than 10 degrees Celsius, and extremely hot conditions saw temperatures exceed 40 degrees Celsius.
Several European countries, including France, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, and parts of southeastern Europe, are preparing for another wave of extreme weather, albeit in a completely different form. This is marked by cold winds sweeping from northern Europe toward parts of western, central, and southern Europe, and unstable weather conditions that could reach the point of extreme weather in some areas.
Arab Weather forecasters said the weather system is expected to produce extreme weather conditions and heavy rainfall, due to the convergence of cold winds coming from the north with warm air centered to the south, resulting from the presence of a high pressure system south of the European continent.
This coincides with the influx of tropical moisture from the south, in addition to the humidity accompanying the low pressure system from the north. This will increase the risk of the formation of high-altitude thunderclouds and, consequently, heavy rainfall in some areas within a short period of time. This increases the risk of flooding and rising water levels, which could hinder public life in several countries.
Arab Weather experts said that one of the reasons that increases the likelihood of extreme weather conditions in Europe in the coming days is the unprecedented temperature of the Mediterranean Sea, as the water temperature in the western Mediterranean exceeds 30 degrees Celsius, an average of 7 degrees higher than normal. This increases the rate of evaporation of seawater and feeds the atmosphere with more moisture, which in turn increases the likelihood of the development of super-cumulus clouds and occasional torrential rains.
