Dr. Abdullah Al-Musnad , a former professor of climate at Qassim University and vice president of the Saudi Weather and Climate Society, confirmed that the galthia cactus, or "galth," is one of the most toxic plants in the Kingdom.
Al -Masnad said in a video clip posted on his X account that the Galthi cactus grows in the Sarawat Mountains and Tihama, particularly in the Al-Baha and Asir regions, and is most abundant in Jazan.
The flowers of the Galthia cactus are distinguished by their large, spherical shape and dark purple or black color, with small stars embedded within the flower, making them eye-catching. Despite this attractive appearance, the plant is highly toxic, ranking it among the most dangerous plants in Saudi Arabia.
