An expert reveals: a “common mistake” when stopping the car that damages the transmission

Weather of Arabia - A car expert revealed a common mistake that many drivers make when stopping the car, in a very popular video, according to what was reported by "Sky News Arabia".

A woman posted a video of "Tik Tok" of how she stopped the car, stopping the car and then changing the transmission to the "parking" or "P" position, before raising the manual brake up.

But a car expert confirmed that although this method is very common among drivers, it is wrong and may damage the transmission.

A person who runs the Hot Road educational page for automobiles said this method was a "common mistake".

He stressed in the video that when the car is stopped and the end of the trip, the transmission must be changed first to "N" and not to "P", then raise the manual brake, then change the transmission one last time to "P", before turning off the engine and taking out the keys.

He confirmed in the video that raising the manual brake while the car is in the "P" state, the car's center of gravity will be on the "Gear" transmission, which may damage it over time.

When the brakes are raised while the vehicle is in the "N" state, the vehicle's center of gravity is on the manual brake, protecting the transmission.
