Arab Weather - Forecasts indicate that the influence of the subtropical high pressure system will intensify over the Arabian Gulf region, the Arabian Peninsula and Iraq, which will lead to increased heating of the hot air mass in the lower layers of the atmosphere and the approach of its blazing center, starting from Saturday 20/6/2026 and the first day of summer for several days.
Therefore, southern Iraq, Kuwait, eastern Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, especially the interior and desert regions, as well as the Sultanate of Oman, especially the interior regions, are expected to be affected by a long and exhausting heat wave that will last for several consecutive days.
Maximum temperatures are expected to rise during this period to levels approaching or exceeding 50 degrees Celsius in many areas, including the capital Baghdad and Kuwait City, for the first time this summer, while the daytime will be noticeably hot and exhausting.
This heat wave is considered exhausting as a result of its continuation for several consecutive days with temperatures remaining at high levels exceeding the mid-forties Celsius on a wide scale, which increases the feeling of heat stress. The weather is also relatively hot during the night hours, especially with the high humidity levels in the coastal areas.
During the heat wave, it is advised to avoid direct and prolonged exposure to sunlight, drink plenty of fluids, and wear loose and light-colored clothing. It is also essential not to leave children or flammable materials inside closed vehicles.
And God knows best.
