The Greater Amman Municipality announced a state of maximum emergency starting Wednesday morning, in order to deal with the weather depression affecting the Kingdom.
Amman Municipality spokesman Nasser Al-Rahamneh confirmed the readiness of the municipality's field staff to deal with any reports received by the Tla'a Al-Ali emergency room, calling on citizens to contact the unified call center numbers (102 and 117180) in case any observation is noted.
Al-Rahamneh called on citizens to take precautions and stay away from valleys and low-lying areas, and not to throw waste randomly because it causes the closure of rainwater drainage lines.
He stressed the importance of inspecting submersible pumps in basements and shops located below street level, and for merchants to take precautionary measures when storing goods in warehouses and basements.
Al-Rahamneh stressed to contractors and owners of construction projects the importance of taking the initiative to secure building materials to avoid them being swept away and directly causing the closure of rainwater drainage lines.
