The plane descended to 7,400 feet (2,255 metres) before briefly regaining an altitude of about 1,200 feet (370 metres), then made a sharp descent again, stopping to transmit data 96 seconds after the start of the steep descent.
The flight path data of the ill-fated Chinese plane revealed that it was traveling at near the speed of sound in the moments before it collided, and this speed may complicate the investigators' task as it may erase evidence behind the plane's collision with a mountain slope, and in rare cases, the accident may lead to damage Airplane data and voice recorders designed to withstand most crashes.
Five days after the crash, the cause of the disaster remains a mystery while the search for the plane's second "black box" continues on Friday.

In May 2018, a Boeing 737 airliner crashed shortly after take-off from Jose Marti International Airport in Havana, Cuba, killing 112 people and leaving one passenger.

In January 2020, a Ukrainian passenger plane Boeing-737 crashed in Iran, killing all 176 people on board, after taking off from the capital, Tehran, bound for Kiev. Although Tehran initially announced that the cause was a technical glitch, the Iranian army later announced that it had shot down the plane by mistake.
In August 2020, an Air India Express Boeing 737 with 190 people on board crashed at an airport in the southern state of Kerala, killing at least 17 people, as it split in half after landing at Calicut airport.
In January 2021, a 737 belonging to Indonesia's Sriwijaya Air crashed into the sea, minutes after taking off from the capital, Jakarta, on a domestic flight with 62 people on board.
Finally, in March 2022, a Chinese civilian Boeing 737 with 133 people on board, belonging to "Eastern China Airlines", crashed in southwest China's Guangxi Province, after it suddenly fell and fell on a mountain slope.
