Arab Weather experts are closely monitoring the developments of Tropical Cyclone Shakti in the Arabian Sea around the clock, with the latest satellite images and weather observations showing it developing into a Category 1 hurricane early Sunday morning.
Latest satellite images indicate that Cyclone Shakti is moving southwestward toward the coast of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. It will gradually weaken over the coming hours before gradually shifting eastward in a cyclone-like motion toward the central Arabian Sea starting tonight.
According to the latest forecasts issued by the Oman Meteorology Department , the center of Cyclone Shakti is expected to reach its closest point to the coast of the Sultanate of Oman on Sunday, at a distance of approximately 100-200 km.
