Arab Weather - The latest output of the numerical weather models received at the Air Operations Department at the Arab Weather Center indicates that there is a slight rise in temperatures in all regions of the country on Friday, as they become slightly higher than their rates for this time of the year, and the weather is very cold in the mountains. Northern, cold in the western and northern regions, relatively cold in the rest of the regions.

Clouds appear at different heights in the northern and western regions, and rain falls in the far north in the form of snow over high altitudes, while the opportunity is ripe for showers of rain in the western regions.

Winds will be northwesterly to northwesterly, moderate in speed, sometimes active over some areas, especially western ones.

A limited case of air instability on Friday/Saturday night

Temperatures drop in all regions of the country with Friday/Saturday night hours, approaching zero Celsius in the western regions and below zero Celsius in the northern regions, and the weather is very cold in the mountainous heights, and very cold in the rest of the regions with high humidity.

Frost and freezing form in large areas of the country, including agricultural areas, and snow forms in wet roads, especially in areas that witnessed snowfall.

A limited state of atmospheric instability arises where clouds multiply at different heights and random showers of rain and hail fall, sometimes heavy, and they are in the form of snow showers over the northern heights if they occur.

The winds are variable, light to moderate in speed, sometimes active.

Unstable weather continues Saturday day

On Saturday, temperatures remain slightly above average for this time of the year, and the weather is very cold in the northern mountains, cold in the western and northern regions, and relatively cold in the rest of the regions.

Clouds appear at different heights, and random showers of rain fall in the form of snow over the northern heights if they occur.

The winds are variable, light to moderate in speed, sometimes active.

A strong and wide wave of frost and freezing includes agricultural areas on Saturday night

Night temperatures drop on Saturday/Sunday night additionally compared to the previous nights, approaching zero centigrade in large areas of the country and below zero centigrade in the western and northern regions, and the weather will be very cold in the mountainous heights, and very cold in the rest of the regions.

With high humidity and fog forming in different areas, it is not excluded that the fog will be thick sometimes, especially in the west.

A strong wave of frost and freezing will occur in large areas of the country, including the capital, Baghdad, and include agricultural areas. Snow forms on wet roads, especially in areas that witnessed snowfall.

The wind is variable direction, light to moderate speed.

In light of the expected weather conditions, the Arab Weather Center advises the necessity of:

• Attention to the danger of frost, freezing and ice forming, which poses a danger to driving on the roads and to livestock crops, so it is advised to take the necessary measures
• Reducing and not driving on roads that witness the formation of snow
• The safe use of heating devices and heavy clothing, especially for the elderly and children.
• Cover exposed pipes and put antifreeze in vehicles.
