The experts confirmed that this news is baseless, and that there are no scientific or model indicators that suggest a similar storm with the same intensity or impact is likely to occur in the current or future period.
Experts at the Arab Weather Center explained that storms like Hurricane Daniel are rare and exceptional occurrences, occurring as a result of a specific set of weather and sea conditions. They do not occur periodically or annually in the same region. Weather experts emphasized the need to rely on official sources and accurate scientific data to monitor any weather event, and not to be swayed by rumors or unreliable news.
Returning to the climate archive, the devastating storm Daniel began as a focus of low air pressure on September 4, 2023, in the central Mediterranean Sea, causing heavy rainfall in parts of the Balkan countries, including Greece, in addition to western Turkey and Istanbul. Rainfall exceeded 800 mm in some Greek areas, leading to flooding, leaving many deaths.
