Arab Weather - The Kingdom of Jordan has witnessed distinctive climatic events during the past decades, especially with regard to snowfall during the month of November. The Director of the Meteorological Department, Raed Rafed Al Khattab, revealed climatic information related to snowfall in the Kingdom during the month of November, in addition to important information related to the Jordanian climate record and the most prominent weather stations that the Kingdom witnessed in this month.
Al-Khattab told Al-Wakeel News that snowfall in November usually occurs in the last third of the month, and this happened in the years 1982, 1994, and 2004.
He added that November usually witnesses diverse weather patterns, ranging from dry and sometimes warm weather to rainy and cold weather, as a result of the Kingdom being affected by different weather systems, such as the extension of the Red Sea trough or low-pressure systems accompanied by cold air fronts.
Al-Khattab pointed out that the highest daily rainfall total recorded at Amman Civil Airport was 79.4 mm on November 7, 1938, while the highest monthly rainfall total during November at the same location was 136.8 mm in 1944.
At the national level, he explained that the Jordanian climate record shows that the Deir Alla monitoring station recorded the highest maximum temperature during the month of November, which reached 39.2 degrees Celsius on November 2, 1962. The Shobak monitoring station also recorded the lowest minimum temperature, which reached 11.2 degrees Celsius below zero on November 17, 1978.
He added that the Ras Munif/Ajloun monitoring station recorded the highest daily rainfall total during November, reaching 114.6 mm on November 19, 2023. The highest rainfall total
