The Japanese Space Agency (JAXA) did not immediately confirm the information reported by the media that the Epsilon-6 missile had received an order to self-destruct, after the agency discovered that it had a problem that prevented it from flying safely.

Epsilon is a solid-fuel missile that entered service in 2013, and since then it has been successfully launched 5 times.

The rocket was carrying the RAISE-3 satellite, which was to operate in a sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of 560 km and an inclination of 97.6 degrees. Altogether, RAISE-3 was expected to last 13 months in orbit plus an additional month after launch to complete the initial procedures.
