Jordan: 6 flights diverted to Aqaba and Marka due to dust

Arab Weather App - The head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Haitham Misto, revealed that six commercial aircraft were diverted yesterday from landing at Queen Alia International Airport to Al Hussein Airport in Aqaba and Amman Civil Airport in Marka, due to the dusty weather conditions currently sweeping the Kingdom.

Musto explained that the severe dust storms prevented six aircraft from landing at Queen Alia Airport, as horizontal visibility was below 300 meters, the minimum permitted for landing. He said that five aircraft diverted to King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba, and one to Amman Civil Airport in Marka.

The latest weather forecasts indicate that dust storms will continue today and tomorrow, with varying intensity from one region to another. This will continue to reduce horizontal visibility, which could negatively impact air traffic.
