Jordan | 609 thousand visitors to the ancient city of Petra within 10 months, an increase of 292%

Weather of Arabia - The total number of visitors to the city of Petra during the past ten months reached 609,204, including 489,280 foreigners, according to statistics issued by the Petra Tourism Development Region Authority.

Comparing between 2021 and 2022 for the same period, the number of visitors increased by 292%, reaching 155,545 visitors in 2021.

According to the statistics, the number of visitors for the same period in 2019 (before the Corona pandemic) reached 890,194, including 773,009 foreigners, and compared to the same period between this year and 2019 shows that the volume of visitors decreased by 32%.

It is noteworthy that the Corona pandemic greatly affected the tourism sector in the city of Petra, after it achieved record numbers in the number of visitors for 2019, which exceeded the one million visitors barrier for the first time in the history of its tourism, according to the Petra Regional Authority.
