Weather of Arabia - Citizens were surprised by automatically presenting their phone hours on their smartphones 60 minutes after midnight Thursday-Friday, given that winter time was worked on, as the government decided earlier to install daylight savings time throughout the year.

This caused confusion among citizens in determining the time, which prevented them from eating the pre-dawn meal or performing the dawn prayer on time, thinking that they were unable to wake up in time, until they discovered later that their phone hours were automatically adjusted by advancing the clock by 60 minutes. The last Thursday/Friday night of March is the daylight savings time, before the government’s decision to install it.

Jordanians used to have two times per year (summer and winter), before the government decided to install daylight saving time throughout the year in Jordan.

The government decided that, after an extensive study it conducted to find out the feasibility of fixing work in the daylight saving time, which showed that the continuation of work in this time makes it possible to take advantage of the longest possible time of daylight hours, as it put it.

She added - at the time - that the decision would limit working hours during the evening and night hours, especially for evening shift students, university students, and employees in the public and private sectors whose work nature requires working until evening hours.
