The latest outputs from numerical computer models, which simulate the movement of air masses and weather systems in the Northern Hemisphere, particularly Europe and the Levant, indicate that the shape of the weather systems appears striking, as a result of the flow of upper troughs with lower temperatures across the European continent toward the eastern basin of the Mediterranean Sea.

Upper air systems coming from Eastern Europe are shifting the upper subtropical high eastward, which has, thankfully, caused heat waves and a heat dome to move away from the Levant and Jordan during the current month of July. As such, temperatures were not far from normal, despite their rise in some periods.

Will the heat dome return to the Kingdom's atmosphere this August?

With the arrival of August, one of the hottest months of the year in the region, questions are once again being raised about the possibility of a heat dome returning to the Kingdom's skies. This weather phenomenon is associated with a strong high pressure system in the upper atmosphere, compressing and heating the air, leading to temperatures rising to unusually high and potentially exceeding average levels.
