Latest Updates: Tropical Storm Asina approaches Omani coast tomorrow

From the Arab Weather Center - The latest satellite images and data received at the Arab Weather Center indicate that the tropical storm Asina is centered in the northern Arabian Sea, and the wind speed around the center of the storm is estimated at about 40 knots, and it is 500 km away from the coast of the Sultanate (Ras Al Hadd).

God willing, the tropical system is expected to continue moving towards the west and southwest during the next 48 hours as it moves along the Omani coast, resulting in scattered rains in some northern governorates, which may be accompanied by thunder at times, with no indications until the latest updates that the tropical system will cross the Sultanate’s airspace.

It is worth noting that it is rare for a tropical storm to form in the Arabian Sea during the month of August, and despite that, the climate archive is not without it in some years. It is also not expected that the system will witness any development in the coming days, but rather its classification will decline due to its confrontation with winds resulting from the upper high located above the atmosphere of the Arabian Peninsula, in addition to the dry northern winds coming from Iran and Pakistan.
