Oman Meteorology issues Alert No. (7) of heavy rain expected today, Monday 24 April 2023

Weather of Arabia - due to the heavy thunderstorms that are likely to fall during the noon and evening periods, which are concentrated in the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, North Sharqiyah and parts of Muscat Governorate, and extend to include parts of Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Batinah and Al Wusta, which may range from 20 to 70 mm.

The Civil Aviation Authority calls on everyone to take precautions during thunderstorms, not to cross valleys, avoid low places, and not go to the sea during the warning period.

Alerts:

• Heavy rains ranging between 7-20 mm lead to runoff of valleys and reefs
• Active downward winds, with speeds ranging between 15 and 50 knots (28-90 km/h).
• Decreased horizontal visibility due to rising dust during thunderstorms
