Arabia Weather - The Henley Global Index for 2024 announced the ranking of global passports with the participation of 227 countries recognized by the United Nations. Christian H. Kaelin, Chairman of Henley & Partners and inventor of the Passport Index concept, said that the general trend over the past 19 years has been towards greater freedom of travel, but the global mobility gap between the most and least developed countries is now wider than ever. He explained:
“The average number of destinations that travelers can reach without a visa has almost doubled from 58 in 2006 to 111 in 2024. As we enter the new year, the top-ranked countries are now able to travel to a further 166 countries, which is an amazing number.”
As for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, it ranked 98th globally , with an increase over the year 2023, as the Saudi citizen can enter 89 countries without a prior visa, and the Kingdom topped the third place in the Arab world.
Globally, South Korea, Finland and Sweden came in second place for visa-free travel to 193 destinations , while Austria, Denmark, Ireland and the Netherlands shared third place in terms of accessibility to 192 destinations . European countries dominate the top positions on the list, with the United Kingdom rising two places to fourth place, in While the ranking of Australian and New Zealand passports improved to sixth place.
At the end of the list, the United States maintains seventh place for visa-free access to 188 destinations .
