Al-Qahtani explained that this decision comes in line with the best international practices applied in international airports such as Changi, Zurich, Dubai, Amsterdam, and London City International Airport, with the aim of achieving a travel experience free of stress and noise in the Asir region.

He added that this initiative relies on basic pillars, most notably the accuracy of the information on flight display screens.

Voice announcements will be dispensed with during the boarding of passengers, with the installation of a voice call system for emergency situations such as cancellation or delay of flights, and flight information will be provided at the boarding gates before the gate opens.

He pointed out that an awareness campaign will be implemented about the silent airport concept, including multilingual information boards and electronic notices to increase travelers’ awareness of the absence of voice calls at the airport.

Al-Qahtani called on the relevant authorities to intensify efforts to implement this initiative and encourage travelers to prepare to travel through the silent airport “Abha International Airport” through the airlines’ communication methods.
