Saudi Arabia | Meteorology: No transfer to Taif clouds for Hajj this year

Weather of Arabia - The official spokesman for the National Center of Meteorology, Hussein Al-Qahtani, ruled out the possibility of using the research technology that aims to transfer the clouds of Taif Governorate to the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region during this year’s Hajj season, with the aim of alleviating the severity of the weather. He explained in his statements that the idea is still in the works. Its initial stages have not yet crystallized, indicating that it can be used in the future.

The official spokesman for the National Center of Meteorology, Hussein Al-Qahtani, stated that the center intends to implement a research technique through the regional program for cloud seeding, which aims to transform the clouds of Taif into Mecca, and this comes within the expansion of the center’s work in the holy sites to reduce temperatures and modify the weather. Al-Qahtani added. :

“The idea is still in its preliminary stages, and requires in-depth study by specialists, and it may not be implemented during the Hajj season this year, but rather in the future to benefit from it.”

The idea of the project revealed by Al-Qahtani aims to enhance the benefit of clouds and exploit their properties to ensure a cool atmosphere in the holy sites during the Hajj seasons.

It is worth noting that Saudi Arabia has had experiments in cloud seeding since 2004, as these experiments affect increasing rainfall, achieving environmental sustainability, building human capabilities, and searching for new water sources to alleviate drought phenomena.
