The area between Riyadh Al-Khabra and Al-Qurain in the Qassim region witnessed a severe weather disturbance this afternoon, accompanied by a strong thunderstorm, which resulted in violent downdrafts that struck the area suddenly.

The situation led to a sharp decrease in horizontal visibility and traffic disruption, while footage circulating online documented several heavy trucks overturning due to the strong winds accompanying the thunderstorm.

Downdrafts are among the most dangerous phenomena associated with strong thunderstorms, as they arise from the rush of cold air from thunderclouds towards the Earth's surface at a very high speed, leading to sudden and limited-range but extremely powerful effects.
