Arab Weather - The Levant region was affected by an unusual cold wave for this time of year, accompanied by a low-pressure system that led to unusual snowfall on the mountainous areas of Lebanon during the month of May.
Weather data shows that the cold air mass accompanying the low-pressure system contributed to a noticeable drop in temperatures in the different layers of the atmosphere, which allowed for the formation of cumulus clouds and snowfall over the high mountain peaks, in a scene that is exceptional in terms of timing.
Snowfall at this time of year is relatively rare, as the weather is usually closer to stability and gradual warming, but the fluctuation in weather systems during this season has allowed cold air masses to rush from the north towards the eastern Mediterranean.
