Several cold upper-level waves are causing thunderstorm activity in several areas of the Arabian Gulf.

Arab Weather - Weather maps issued by the Arab Weather Center indicate the passage of several upper-level cold waves in the upper atmosphere during the period from 8 to 12-13 April 2026. These waves, coinciding with the presence of a hot air mass in the lower atmosphere, are expected to cause unstable weather conditions over several areas of the Arabian Peninsula.

These weather conditions are expected to lead to significant thunderstorm activity, accompanied by rain of varying intensity, which may be heavy at times, in addition to localized hail showers.

These weather conditions are also expected to be accompanied by strong downdrafts in some areas, causing dust storms, particularly in desert regions. These weather changes are part of the dynamic interaction between upper-level cold air masses and warm surface air masses, leading to the formation of unstable and sudden weather patterns during the daytime.
