Arab Weather - Today, 1/7/2025, marks the tenth anniversary of the snowstorm "Huda" that hit the region in January 2015. This storm was one of the strongest winter storms witnessed by the Middle East countries, as it caused heavy snowfall and a sharp drop in temperatures, which affected daily life and caused many damages.

In detail, the people of the Levant remember on this day every year the scene of snow that covered large areas of the Kingdom, as today marks the tenth anniversary of the snowstorm "Huda", which began to affect the region on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. The storm caused the closure of roads and the disruption of ministries and government departments for several days, and the accumulation of snow led to the closure of the main road leading to Queen Alia International Airport in the capital, Amman. The snow also closed the entire area of northern Amman, in addition to closing roads in the Balqa Governorate, northwest of the capital, and the situation was similar in most cities in the south of the Kingdom.

Wednesday, January 7, 2015:

The Levant, specifically Jordan, was affected on Wednesday by stormy weather due to strong winds that reached speeds of more than 100 km/h, which led to dust and sandstorms. Heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and hail also fell in some areas. At dawn, heavy snow began to fall on mountain heights that are more than 700 meters above sea level, and the snowfall extended to include the central regions. At night, temperatures dropped significantly, reaching zero and below zero in many areas.

Thursday, January 8, 2015:

The bitterly cold weather continued, with strong winds exceeding 80 km/h, and snow showers continued over mountain heights above 850 meters in Jordan. The snowfall level was lower in the north of the Levant. Snowfall resumed at night over most of the highlands.

Friday, January 9, 2015:

The flow of very cold polar winds from Turkey has increased to the region, leading to very cold weather in most areas. Temperatures also dropped unusually at night, with Amman and Jordanian cities recording temperatures below -5 degrees Celsius, and snowfall renewed in many areas.
