Arab Weather - The Sultanate of Oman is experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall across many regions, with the rain set to expand starting today and over the coming days, becoming more intense and widespread. This is a result of an easterly wave, accompanied by high humidity and high thermal convection across the various active layers of the atmosphere.
In detail, the latest forecasts indicate unstable weather conditions on Tuesday, continuing until the end of the week. Heavy rains will be accompanied by heavy thunderstorms and hail showers across many governorates and states, particularly the Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates, as well as southeastern Oman, the Al Hajar Mountains, and other areas that you can view on the Arab Weather app. This coincides with the increasing intensity of the Dhofar Khareef in Dhofar Governorate and the city of Salalah.
The weather is expected to intensify across many areas of the Sultanate, including coastal areas, particularly along the coast overlooking the Arabian Sea. These rains will generally be of varying intensity, with occasional heavy downpours. They will be accompanied by hail showers and active surface winds that will stir up dust and sand in some areas, in addition to significant disturbances in coastal areas overlooking the Arabian Sea.
The Arab Weather Center recommends monitoring weather updates on a regular basis, taking precautions in sloping areas and flood-prone valleys, avoiding crossing flowing valleys, and being aware of the dangers of heavy dust and sandstorms affecting desert roads.
