Arab Weather - Weather analyses at the Arab Weather Center indicate that the Gaza Strip will not be directly affected by the regional heat wave that will affect the eastern Mediterranean and the Levant during the second week of August. However, residents of the Strip will experience stifling conditions, with the apparent temperature exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, matching the temperatures expected in capitals affected by the heat wave, such as Damascus, Amman, and Jerusalem.
These difficult conditions are due to the coastal climate of the Gaza Strip, where actual temperatures hover around 32 degrees Celsius, accompanied by extremely high humidity, leading to a significant increase in what is known as "perceived heat"—that is, the heat actually felt by the human body—which in this case exceeds 40 degrees Celsius.
With lower wind speeds, the body's ability to cool itself through sweating is reduced, increasing the feeling of heat, even at night. The weather remains hot and humid.
These weather conditions coincide with a tragic humanitarian situation, with tens of thousands of Gaza residents living in tents or partially or completely destroyed homes, amidst a lack of electricity and a water shortage.
Tents become enclosed environments that store heat and humidity, making them hotter than the outdoors, making the heat even more intense for families and children.
O God, ease the summer heat for them and be their support.
