The emergence of the `bomb cyclone` phenomenon: Polar air masses rush towards America and Western Europe, bringing powerful winter storms.

Arab Weather – The latest updates from Arab Weather's computer simulations indicate a massive and extremely cold polar air mass moving towards large parts of the United States and the North Atlantic, extending to western Europe in the coming days. This is a result of significant disturbances in the polar vortex, characterized by a very high temperature over the Arctic and a split in the polar vortex, coinciding with a noticeable weakening and significant meandering of the jet stream.

Due to this significant zigzag pattern in the jet stream, frigid polar air masses are expected to surge toward the aforementioned regions, leading to a sharp and significant drop in temperatures, reaching extremely low levels across vast areas of the United States and the North Atlantic. As these air masses cross over the relatively warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean, conditions become favorable for the formation of what are known as "Atlantic storms"—deep low-pressure systems characterized by extremely low atmospheric pressure.

Forecasts indicate that some of these storms could develop into what is known as a "bomb cyclone," scientifically defined as a drop in atmospheric pressure of more than 24 hectopascals in just 24 hours. This leads to a rapid collapse in atmospheric pressure, accompanied by fierce winds, torrential rain, and heavy snowfall. These powerful weather systems are expected to first affect the eastern United States before gradually spreading from west to east, impacting Western Europe.
