Arab Weather - The newly discovered Comet SWAN, scientifically named C/2025 F2 SWAN , was spotted and photographed for the first time from the Jordanian sky from the Mafraq Mountains at dawn today, as the head of the Jordanian Astronomical Society, Dr. Ammar Al-Sakaji, was able to spot and photograph it, after weeks of clouds that prevented its detection. This comet is faint and cannot be seen with the naked eye, but requires a telescope, as its magnitude at dawn today reached about 8.5 and it is 171 million kilometers away from Earth at the moment of its detection at dawn today. It is located in the constellation of Andromeda. It has been spotted by dozens of international astronomical centers and astronomy enthusiasts in many countries of the world, and their images over the past two days showed that the comet began to disintegrate and its tail began to dim.

It was first observed by astronomers Vladimir Bezogly and Michael on March 29, and independently by Matthias Mattson and Rob Mattson on March 31, 2025 , using the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) camera. It will approach the Sun on May 1, 2025.
