Minister of Local Administration, Engineer Walid Al-Masri, directed on Wednesday the heads of municipal committees, directors of municipal affairs directorates, and heads of joint services councils to raise the state of readiness and preparedness to the highest level, in light of expectations that the Kingdom will be affected by a state of atmospheric instability.

He called on the directors of municipal affairs and joint services councils to coordinate directly with the heads of municipal committees to inspect valleys, flood channels, main, box, pipe and branch culverts, in addition to rainwater drains, to ensure their readiness and ability to accommodate the expected amounts of water.

Al-Masri stressed the need for prior coordination with administrative governors and other service institutions operating within municipal areas, to ensure the integration of efforts in dealing with any emergency resulting from weather conditions.

He called for warning citizens residing or located near valleys and torrents, and working to keep them away from them in coordination with administrative governors, stressing the importance of taking preventive measures, given the expectation that the state of instability will continue for three consecutive days.

Al-Masri also directed the heads of the joint services councils to prepare all mechanisms and equipment to be ready for immediate intervention when needed, whether at the request of the municipalities or if the field conditions require it, especially in deepening valleys and cleaning culverts, stressing the cooperation of all emergency teams and workers with the municipalities in the field.
