The peak of the rainy weather system affecting the region will be from Wednesday to Friday, coinciding with the passage of a deep low-pressure system.

Issued by the Arab Weather Regional Center , advanced computer simulation models at the Arab Weather Center indicate that the entire eastern Mediterranean basin region will, God willing, be at the peak of the rainy weather system “Ghaith” between Wednesday and Friday at the end of this week, as this weather system is expected to reach its peak in many countries of the region, including Iraq and the Arabian Peninsula.

This is due to the region being affected by the passage of a very cold air mass in the layers of the atmosphere far from the Earth’s surface, accompanied by a deep low-pressure system, coinciding with the rush of subtropical air currents saturated with moisture coming from the south, which will, God willing, lead to the merging of air masses with different characteristics and sharp temperature differences, and thus the emergence of unstable weather conditions on a wide and vast scale in the countries of the region.

Large amounts of rain are expected in the region, coinciding with the peak of the rainy weather system.

Weather experts at the Arab Weather Regional Center said that computer simulation outputs indicate heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, in addition to active to strong winds that may stir up sandstorms in some areas.

It is also expected that large amounts of rain will fall, God willing, over large areas of the eastern Mediterranean basin countries, including the Levant and Iraq, where this situation is expected, God willing, to cause an increase in the risk of flash floods and very large flows of valleys and streams in many areas.

Such weather conditions necessitate caution regarding the risks of flash floods, rising water levels, and soil and rock erosion in mountainous areas. It is also advisable to follow weather updates regularly in the coming days.
