Arab weather - Yesterday, Sunday (October 24), many Tunisian regions were subjected to heavy thunderstorms that caused torrential rains and floods in many states, especially the northern ones.

The reason for the prevailing weather in Tunisia is due to the intensification of the desert depression in conjunction with the crossing of a cold air mass over the western basin of the Mediterranean, which created a strong state of atmospheric instability, and soon an air depression formed to the east of the Tunisian coast, pushing more humid eastern winds towards Tunisia bringing more rain.

It is expected that this depression will stabilize to the east of Tunisia during the next few days, pushing more rainy clouds to the north and east of the country.

3 deaths swept away by floods

Because of the floods in Tunisia following heavy rains, three people swept away by torrential rains died, a spokesman for the Civil Protection Agency announced on Sunday.

In the northwestern Tunisian town of Tala, two young men aged 20 and 27 died after their car was washed away by water, according to a spokesman for the Civil Protection Agency, Moez Teraa.

Another young man, aged 24, was killed in Borj Chaker, near the capital, Tunis, according to the spokesman.

God bless them all.

Floods and infrastructure in Tunisia

Tunisia is experiencing seasonal floods caused by heavy rains, and poor infrastructure, including outdated water drainage systems, and poor urban planning are under the weight of it.

In September 2020, six people, including three children, died when storms accompanied by rain hit homes across the country. In 2018, at least five people died in Seoul.
