What is fog?

It is a natural phenomenon that occurs when the clouds are near or in contact with the surface of the earth, and the fog can be light or dense, and in all cases it leads to a decrease in the extent of horizontal visibility, depending on its density, and the fog may lead to a complete lack of horizontal visibility when it is very dense.

How does fog happen?

• Fog occurs as a result of water vapor condensation near the surface of the Earth, where water molecules unite to form water droplets suspended in the air, and this is what causes fog to occur in general.
• Fog may also occur in cases of high humidity, as this requires the presence of a lot of water vapor in the atmosphere.
• Air pollutants and dust also help form fog, as water vapor condenses around it, causing fog to occur.

What are the types of fog?

• Radiation haze .
• rising fog.
• Freezing fog.
• evaporation haze.
• Valley mist.
• Moving Fog.

There is another classification of fog according to the places of its occurrence:

• Land fog : It is the fog that occurs over the land as a result of moisture in the atmosphere and the loss of heat from the earth's surface.
• Valley fog : This type of fog occurs in valleys due to cold winds blowing from mountains to valleys.
• Sea fog : Sea fog is formed as a result of the warm sea currents that blow to cold areas and may transport the fog to land over great distances.
