Arab Weather - Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, as a Category 5 hurricane, making it one of the strongest hurricanes to hit the region this year. The hurricane caused:
Satellite images from the Arab Weather app showed that the hurricane continued its path toward southern Cuba, where it weakened to a Category 3 storm with wind speeds of 193 km/h. The hurricane continues to bring heavy rain and localized flooding to low-lying areas of southern Cuba, along with persistent strong winds.
The hurricane is expected to take a northerly path towards the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, moving out of the tropical zone and encountering much colder waters, which will cause it to gradually lose its tropical characteristics and transform into an extratropical storm that interacts with cold air masses coming from the North Atlantic during the first days of November.
