As for the Mediterranean Sea, it was called by this name as a result of its wideness, as its waters appear light in color like the waters of large oceans when sailing in it.

The Red Sea (Qalzam) was called by this name as a result of the spread of plankton and algae in it, which sometimes reflects the red color, as well as as a result of the spread of rocky mountains on its Saudi and Egyptian sides, as those mountains reflect the red color on its waters at sunset.

Many have believed that coral is the reason why it is called red, but red coral is rare in it and is located within limited areas near Yemen in the south and the Gulf of Aqaba in the north.

As for the reason for naming the Yellow Sea, which separates China and the Korean peninsula, it is due to the spread of sand in it, most of which comes from the rivers that flow into it and carry with them silt and dust, of which the yellow color is mostly.
