A massive dust storm covering an area of approximately 500 square kilometers is affecting Morocco and Algeria.

Arab Weather - The latest satellite images from Arab Weather, tracking dust movement, indicate that large parts of the Maghreb are being affected by a massive dust storm, encompassing large parts of Morocco and Algeria, covering an area of approximately 500 square kilometers.

According to data from some airports there, horizontal visibility at Bechar Airport in Algeria has dropped to 1,500 meters near the Moroccan-Algerian border.

According to Arab Weather forecasters, the dust storms are due to active southerly winds that pushed massive amounts of dust across the Sahara Desert toward parts of Morocco and Algeria.
